5 Protective Hairstyles for When You’re Too Lazy to Deal With Your Hair This Summer

We’re starting to get “knee-deep” into summer. It’s hot as hell and honestly, a weave isn’t going to cut it for me right now. And I surely, don’t feel like dealing with own hair (plus I’m a new mom all over again so that’s #dead). Times like these call for quick, easy-to-manage-and-maintain hair styles that I can just get up and go. Here are five protective hairstyle for when you’re just too lazy to deal with your hair.

1.Faux Locs: Beautiful dreadlocks without the commitment!

2. Box Braids: Box braids are braids that are braided by four strands and make the shape of a box. A very popular braid of the 90s and is  back in style today.

3.Feed ins: Feed in braids are a popular protective style that’s created with hair extensions which are fed into each braid starting near the roots of the hair.

4. Cornrows: A traditional African style of hair grooming where the hair is braided very close to the scalp. Often favored for their easy maintenance, cornrows can be left in for weeks at a time if maintained through careful washing of the hair and regular oiling of the scalp.

  1.  Crochet hair: hair extensions that are literally crocheted into your own hair (braided into cornrows) with a latch hook tool. This type of hairstyle has been popular since the ’90s.
