TS: What inspired you to start your own blog?
K: I felt unfulfilled creatively and was having a hard time landing a job that allowed me to combine my passions. You can have a degree and internships, but the world says you still need more experience. I got tired of waiting for someone to choose me, so I decided to choose myself.

TS: What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?

K: It’s fun getting invited to fashion events and meeting other bloggers, but nothing compares to experiencing a genuine connection to my readers. If someone recreates a style or checks out a store I mentioned, that makes me smile. I invest a lot of time into my posts, so it feels good to know someone read and connected with my content. That’s really what makes it all worth it.

TS:  Tell us about your greatest achievement (so far) in life?
K: I think my blog is currently my greatest achievement. It’s my baby! I dreamed it, planned for it, created it, and now I’m watching it grow. I’ve already learned so much and met so many people. I have a long way to go, but I’m very proud of Ke In The City so far. I stepped out of my comfort zone and was able to create something cool.

TS: What inspires you?
K:  There’s a huge gap between where I am and where I want to be. That gap is scary and sometimes discouraging, but it’s also an inspiration. I ask myself, what can I do today to get me closer to the bigger picture? Then I do it.

TS: What’s the best style advice you ever received?
K:  When I was younger, my mother would always try to get me to shop at thrift shops. I was not having it. I didn’t like the idea of wearing someone else’s clothes. Now that I’m older, I love thrift shops. I can always find unique pieces at affordable prices. I can’t really ask for more than that.

TS: How would you describe your personal style and how does it reflect who you are?
K:  As I look through my feed, I’m realizing that my style is way more girly than I’d like to admit. I’m a girly girl, so that’s actually an accurate reflection of who I am. I feel most stylish when I find a way to dress up something casual.

TS: What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?

K: My greatest failure has been letting fear rule me. I used to psych myself out of doing things for fear of how things could go wrong. I realized I was missing out on a lot and had to change my mindset. Now I’m like, I’d rather try and fail horribly than to miss out the possibility of success.

TS: What has been the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

K: Avoiding comparison was the hardest thing for me. A quote I love is, “You are more than enough. Avoid comparison like the plague”. That’s what I’ve had to do with blogging. When I see bloggers with millions of followers and gorgeous designer clothes, it’s easy to get discouraged. But I’ve learned to take my time and appreciate the journey.

TS: Who are some of your favorite bloggers? Why they are your favorites?
K: Blake Von D does a great job of mixing prints and colors. I also like the way she writes her blog posts. I die over Micah Gianneli every single day. She’s fabulous and posts cool fashion videos on Instagram. Scout Fashion is another favorite. Their mother and daughter combo is so cute.

TS: Who are your style icons?

K: I’m a huge fan of 90s fashion. I grew up loving Cher & Dionne from Clueless and Fran from The Nanny. I was obsessed with their looks. Aaliyah perfected looking effortlessly cool. I’m also in awe of Rihanna and her ability to make anything look amazing. Literally anything.

TS: What’s your morning routine like?
K:  First I hit snooze one too many times. Then I check my phone, talk to God, and get ready for my day. I try to prep my hair and clothes at night so I won’t have to worry about them in the morning. Oh! And I can’t go without breakfast. Eggs, bacon, muffins, waffles, yes! I’m greedy like that.

TS: How do you stay organized on a daily basis?
K:  I use the iPhone reminders and calendar app for day to day organization. If you’re into organizing your Instagram feed, you have you check out UNUM! It’s helps me schedule and organize my posts.

Top 3 fav pieces in your closet:
K:  I have a pair of dark blue high-waist jeans that I’ve been obsessed with forever. I’ll wear them until they don’t fit. I also have a form fitting midi skirt that I love. I can dress it up for work or dress it down for the weekend. Another favorite is grey sweatpants. Dressing up is fun, but as soon as I get home, I put on a pair of grey sweats.

Books your loving rn:
K: Jen Sincero’s You Are A Badass is one I can read over and over. It’s full of attitude, inspiration, and self-affirmations. Read it once and you’ll feel like the world is yours.

Top 5 Fav Designers/Brands:

K: This is weird for a fashion blogger to say, but I’m not very brand obsessed. Right now I’m into Wildfox, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Nasty Gal, and Melody Ehsani.

Fav 90s Jam:

Ahh! This is impossible for me to answer. The 90s is my favorite era of music. I’ll go with Brandy Sittin’ Up In My Room. I could list 100 more though.
Favorite Cocktail:
Creamsicle cocktails
Beauty Favs:

NYX Butter Gloss and Maybelline Colossal mascara. Great makeup starts with great skin, so face masks are a must. Clay and turmeric masks are my favorite.
